Canadian International School of Thailand
CIST recognises the fast-changing demands of modern society and the ever-evolving marketplace. In addition to academic qualifications, there is a need for critical and creative thinking skills, interpersonal skills, leadership, and adaptability. Here, we aim to prepare all learners for the future by laying a solid foundation of education for all students at all levels.
Every child is an individual. CIST aims to identify each child’s talents, interests, and aspirations and align them with learning opportunities designed to promote them and build on them to create new competencies. We aim to provide a conducive learning environment for individuals while emphasizing the inter-connectivity among learners.
As students grow into CIST learners, guided by our mission, we encourage them to take meaningful action on issues of relevance both in-school and in the community as they recognize their role as responsible global citizens.
Canadian International School of Thailand (CIST) is an IB World School situated in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. The school is situated on a 9.2 acre site next to the Chao Phraya river in the Pinklao area of Bangkok. The large campus, which is shared with Thewphaingarm Canadian Bilingual School, hosts an all-weather sports facility, tennis courts, a gymnasium, outdoor play areas, and a range of specialist classrooms.
The school first opened in September 2017 with a Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Grade 7 class. After five years of continual growth, the school now has almost 200 students from Pre-Kindergarten through to Grade 11.
In August 2022, the school will complete the continuum as it adds its first Grade 12 class, studying towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
According to the Canadian system, education is divided into three sections: the Early Years (Pre-K3 and Pre-K 4), Elementary (KG to Grade 6), and Secondary (Grade 7 to 12).
CIST aims to identify each child’s talents, interests, and aspirations and align them with learning opportunities designed to promote them and build on them to create new competencies.
Along with growth in numbers and facilities, the school is dedicated to developing its academic programs. 2021 was a massive year - the school received authorization for both the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) is a recognized leader in the field of education with over 5,500 schools in 159 countries, encouraging students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners.
CIST was also authorized as a Pearson centre to offer Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) Level 3 Business from August 2021 onwards.
Study in Canada
Secondary school provides students a wealth of unique learning and development opportunities through collaboration with organizations in Canada. Grade 7 to 10 students learn in Canada at Lakeside Academy, an IB World School, for ten weeks of each year. They stay in a safe dormitory facility in Montreal and attend school as full-time students.
In grade 11, students transition from the curriculum of Quebec to the curriculum
of Ontario to prepare them for success in grade 12. In grade 12, the Ontario curriculum is offered provided
through a partnership with Rosedale Academy.
CIST is a collaborative partner school in the Rosedale Global High School Program.
Message from the Founder
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning families and to those who are interested in joining us.
I built this school with the love of a mother and the passion of an educator. I believe that children are able to accomplish many things that we may see as impossible. I want this school to be a place where children can be themselves, flourish and follow their dreams. I want it to be a school where creative thinkers and effective problem-solvers are found. Together we can achieve our goals. Join us and prove that there is no limit to your potential or to that of your son or daughter.
